One former chairman of a financial institution we knew well used to refer to the ‘real’ assets of the company as those that travelled in the company’s lifts every day. He was obviously quite proud of this analogy as he mentioned it each year, without fail, at the beginning of his annual speech to the board of directors.
He had a very valid point though – and most businesses can help reward and retain staff by careful use of employee benefits. And it’s important that employees are fully aware of that investment on their behalf – and we can help communicate that by working with directors or your HR department.
